Alba Bioscience is an expanding directorate within the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS), developing and manufacturing state of the art diagnostic products for use by the NHS and customers world-wide. Its product range includes reagents for blood grouping, haematology and immunochemistry. Many of the products incorporate polyclonal antisera or monoclonal antibodies and their derivatives such as enzyme and fluorescent conjugates. The company also offer contract services to the bioscience industry and currently manufacture products for major global players in the IVD, biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. Development and manufacturing capabilities include pilot- and large-scale mammalian cell culture (stirred-tank, air-lift and hollow-fibre bioreactors), polyclonal and monoclonal antibody production, product formulation, liquid fill, freeze drying and packaging.
