Therics, Inc. was founded as a company designing, developing and manufacturing revolutionary reconstructive products in tissue engineering (such as the synthetic bone substitute products that promote the growth of bone) and pharmaceutical dosage forms with a new-to-the-world design and fabrication process known as 3-Dimensional Printing (3-DP™) technology which was developed at MIT. Aprecia Pharmaceuticals was formed in 2003, keeping the exclusive rights for the 3-DP technology for its “pharmaceutical applications”. Therics Inc. and its intellectual property for the “tissue engineering applications” of 3-DP was sold to Tredegar Corp. and later purchased by the Theken Family of Companies, and continued operations in the tissue engineering field as Therics, LLC.
