Schweizerhall Chemie AG came into being in 2001 as a result of the amalgamation of the Chemische Fabrik Schweizerhall AG, Basel, with what were then its sister companies, Prochimie Avenches SA, Avenches and Solva-Chemie AG, Bätterkinden. As of May 2006 Schweizerhall Chemical Inc. has been acquired by Brenntag group, global leader in the distribution of chemicals, headquartered in Mülheim an der Ruhr/Germany. As of 2007 the company operates under the name of Brenntag Schweizerhall Inc.
