Cangene Corp.
Cangene, founded in 1984 and headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Company’s
business is divided into two operating segments: biopharmaceutical operations and contract services. Cangene uses patented manufacturing processes to produce plasma-derived and recombinant therapeutic proteins. The majority of products in Cangene’s pipeline are hyperimmunes—antibody products that may aid in the fight against
complex medical challenges such as hepatitis B, smallpox, botulism, anthrax and Ebola. Cangene is also developing
recombinant protein biopharmaceutical products for a variety of indications. With more than 25 years of experience garnered from manufacturing its life-saving drug WinRho¨ SDF, Cangene specializes in producing injectable products for its own pipeline and also offers contract R&D and manufacturing services to other biopharmaceutical companies as well as government organizations. With its extensive manufacturing facilities and a top
international reputation, Cangene is able to offer a full range of contract-R&D and manufacturing services to other organizations. Cangene can provide a variety of services at a scale to match customer needs, all within a
fully good-manufacturing-practices-compliant setting. The Chesapeake Biological Laboratories, Inc. subsidiary in Baltimore, Maryland, encompasses facilities for filling and
finishing biologic products as well as sterile-filling syringes. Cangene has also been chosen as a supplier for three of the products in the U.S. Strategic National Stockpile and
is one of the top non-U.S., civilian contractors to the U.S. government. With these contracts, Cangene retains the rights to the product, and will continue to seek licensure
and additional sales to other parties following delivery on the contract. The Company also offers contract R&D and manufacturing services to other biopharmaceutical companies and government organizations, particularly through our Cangene bioPharma, Inc. (“Cangene bioPharma”) subsidiary in Baltimore, Maryland. Effective November 1, 2010, Cangene reorganized and streamlined the structure of its U.S. plasmacollection
operations through the merger of its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Mid-Florida Biologicals, Inc. and Biotherapeutic Laboratories, Inc. Pursuant to the merger, Biotherapeutic Laboratories, Inc. ceased to
exist and Mid-Florida Biologicals, Inc., as the successor corporation, was renamed Cangene Plasma Resources, Inc.
