Capsulution was founded in the year 2000 as a spin-off of the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces in Golm. The Company produces "intelligent" nanocapsules by using its LBL technology®. The LBL-Technology® (derived from the term „layer-by-layer“) is a high-tech tool for making unique multifunctional nano- and micron-sized capsules which are invisible to the human eye. Due to the distinct advantages of the LBL-Technology®, Capsulution has aroused much interest among potential customers. Co-operation agreements and research contracts have been signed with companies such as Schering AG, Bayer AG, Gelita, Octoplus, SCA Hygiene Products GmbH, and several undisclosed partners. In addition, Capsulution has established joint research projects with research groups in Germany, The Netherlands and New Zealand. Capsulution holds the exclusive rights to market the LBL-Technology® worldwide. The basic patent families of the LBL-Technology® themselves are owned by the Max-Planck-Society which supports the maintenance, prosecution and defense of these patents. Capsulution also continues to seek, when appropriate, to protect its products and proprietary information by means of additional German and foreign patents, trademarks and contractual arrangements.
