EMC microcollections GmbH, founded in 1996, is a high-tech company with a special expertise in structurally diverse target-oriented compound collections with a high potential for discovering new small molecule therapeutics. In contrast to classical chemistry, the technologies and methods of parallel chemistry on solid phase and in solution developed by EMC allow the 100 to 1000-fold acceleration of synthesis procedures. EMC processes orders from the pharmaceutical industry for the production of compound collections and lead structure optimisation. The compounds are valuable for drug screening and are tested by the client or EMC for their biological activity. EMC provides support at every step of the drug-discovery process, on a servicing or partnership basis. The core competencies of EMC microcollections lie in the field of bioorganic synthesis and immunochemistry. EMC offers a powerful spectrum of customer-specific peptide- and peptidomimetics synthesis including purification using the latest HPLC-MS technology. The company’s research focuses on the development of new agonists and antagonists for toll-like receptors and the development of synthetic vaccines. In the field of nanobiotechnology, molecular tweezers are developed for proteome analysis. EMC cooperates successfully with internationally renowned research groups with biochemical and chemical know-how also in projects funded by the BMBF and the EU. Currently, EMC employs about 30 people, 15 hold doctoral degrees in Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Biology.
