The Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute is a private biomedical research organization dedicated to improving public health through research on the prevention, treatment, and cure of respiratory disease. The Institute readily opens its unique research facilities to university, government, and private collaborators. The Inhalation Drug Delivery Center is a collaborative effort of the Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute (LRRI), which is recognized as a national leader in respiratory research and inhalation studies, and the School of Pharmacy at the University of New Mexico. The Inhalation Drug Delivery Center conducts research aimed at developing innovative strategies to optimize the design and delivery of pharmaceuticals by inhalation.The Inhalation Drug Delivery Center (IDDC) was established to serve the needs of industry and government in research and development of drug delivery via inhalation. The Center offers drug design, device development, deposition and pharmacokinetics studies, airway modeling, and preclinical and clinical toxicity and efficacy trials. FDA consultation services are also provided. IDDC offers expertise in aerosol science, inhalation exposure technology, respiratory tract xenobiotic metabolism, pharmacokinetics of inhalants, pulmonary pathology, and animal models for the study of respiratory disease.
