Respironics designs, develops, manufactures and markets medical devices used primarily for the treatment of patients suffering from sleep and respiratory disorders. The Company's products are designed to reduce costs while improving the effectiveness of patient care and are used primarily in homes, hospitals, alternative care facilities and emergency medical settings. In March 2008, Company was acquired by Royal Philips Electronics. As a result of the merger, Respironics has become an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Philips.
