SkyePharma PLC is a specialty pharmaceutical company incorporated in 1910 as Black & Edgington plc. In 1996, the Company changed its name to SkyePharma PLC. The Company, along with its subsidiary Jagotec AG, has developed products in Oral, Inhalation, Topical and Injectable delivery. Over the years, SkyePharma has fueled its growth by acquiring technologies and companies starting with Depotech (Depofoam injectable depot) in November 1998, Hyal in 1999 (topical technologies based on hyaluronic acid), Medac GmbH (Dissocube water insoluble technology) in July 1999 and RTP Pharma (IDD-P water insoluble) in April 2002. In May 2002, SkyePharma acquired the entire drug delivery business of Bioglan AB of Sweden which included Bioglan's Biosphere injectable technology and rights to DermaStick, Crystalip and ES-Gel topical drug delivery technologies . In April 2004, Skypharma licensed its topical products and technologies to Trigenesis which was subsequently acquired by Dr. Reddy's in May 2004. In January, 2007 the company divested its injectable depot business, located in San Diego, California, to Blue Acquisition Corp. Blue Acquisition Group is now named Pacira Pharmaceuticals. Also in 2007, Skyepharma voluntarily de-listed from the NASDAQ but maintained listing on the London Exchange. Currently, Skyepharma offers products based on Oral and Inhalation technologies. The Company has 12 marketed products including oral products (Paxil CR, Requip XL 24 Hour, Xatral OD/Uroxatral, Triglide, Madopar DR, Coruno, Lodotra, and diclofenac-ratiopharm), inhalation products (Pulmicort HFA-MDI), and topical (Solaraze).
