Tosoh Announces New Representative Director and President

Tokyo, Japan—Tosoh Corporation announces its new representative director and president as decided during a meeting of its Board of Directors held on February 3, 2022.

Implementation of the Company’s fiscal 2023 medium-term business plan will be overseen by a new management team, with the aim of further strengthening its earnings and business foundation and achieving further growth.

Mr. Yamamoto will remain on the Company’s Board of Directors until the next General Shareholders’ Meeting this June, after which, he will become a corporate advisor. 

2. The biography for the newly appointed president and representative director is as follows:

Mamoru Kuwada

Mamoru Kuwada graduated from Osaka University with a degree in polymer science before joining Tosoh Corporation in 1984. In 1999, he served in the company’s president’s office before being assigned to Tosoh’s Nanyo Complex where by 2007 he was serving as general manager of Isocyanate Raw Materials Manufacturing Operations.

In 2009, Mr. Kuwada moved to Tosoh’s Yokkaichi Complex, serving as assistant to the complex’s senior general manager and then as general manager of Specialty Materials Production.

Mr. Kuwada moved to Tosoh headquarters in 2012, joining Production and Technology Planning as well as joined its safety reform committee. In 2013, he became general manager of Production and Technology Planning and of the Company’s Facility Management.

In 2016, Mr. Kuwada was made a vice president of the Company, followed by being elevated to senior vice president in 2017 simultaneous with becoming senior general manager of the Company’s Polymers Division.

In June 2018, Mr. Kuwada was made senior general manager of the Yokkaichi Complex.

As of June 2020, Mr. Kuwada was made a director and executive vice president of Tosoh. He also became president of the Company’s Chlor-alkali Group and general manager of Purchasing & Logistics. And he was appointed general manager of the Cement Division in December of the same year.

In June 2021, Mr. Kuwada assumed the position of president of the Specialty Group. As of the end of December 2021, he held a total of 11,000 shares in Tosoh Corporation.
