Tosoh Starts Selling SARS-CoV-2 Quantitative Antigen Test to Be Used on Tosoh's AIA-CL Analyzers for the Japanese Market

Tokyo, Japan—Tosoh is pleased to announce its launch of CL AIA-PACK® SARS-CoV-2-Ag, a new severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) antigen test on September 28, 2021. This reagent is specifically for use with Tosoh’s automated chemiluminescent enzyme immunoassay analyzers AIA-CL series. The reagent received manufacturing and sales approval on September 14, 2021, and secured the coverage for public insurance on the same day.

The development of CL AIA-PACK SARS-CoV-2-Ag was completed in collaboration with the research group of Yokohama City University. SARS-CoV-2 antigen in samples can be measured in as little as 25 minutes using this reagent on AIA-CL analyzers. Using AIA-CL2400, as many as 120 samples are processed in an hour. As Tosoh has already launched four types of dedicated reagents that detect antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein (NP) and spike protein (SP), both SARS-CoV-2 antigen quantitative measurement and antibody detection can be performed on the same analyzer.

Based on Tosoh’s technology of rapid measurement, Tosoh will contribute to medical treatment, research, and epidemiological surveys related to COVID-19.
